Adam Green Reveals Hatchet 4: Victor Crowley

hatchet 4 victor crowley

Writer-director Adam Green has secretly made a fourth film in the Hatchet franchise titled Victor Crowley.

Once again Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th) stars as the swamp-dwelling, supernatural killer after whom the new movie is named. The film is being described as a reboot and is set ten years after the massacre featured in the series’ first three movies. Victor Crowley costars Hatchet franchise veteran Parry Shen (Better Luck Tomorrow) as well as Laura Ortiz (Holliston), Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), and Brian Quinn (Impractical Jokers).

Victor Crowley is written and directed by Green who penned all three Hatchet films and directed the first two movies. The filmmaker’s company ArieScope Pictures has partnered with Dark Sky Films on the movie.

In the film, we discover that Shen’s lone survivor Andrew Yong has spent over a decade claiming that local legend Victor Crowley was responsible for the deaths of the forty-nine people killed in the original trilogy of films. Yong’s allegations have been met with widespread disbelief, but when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Yong must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past.

Victor Crowley is premiering at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinema at an event advertised as a “Hatchet 10th Anniversary Celebration.” The film is also screening at the upcoming FrightFest Festival in London. In October, Green will embark on a “Victor Crowley Road Show” during which he will introduce the film at special one-night screening events across the country.

A full schedule of screenings and additional release information will follow.

Netflix Pick of the Week: Ozark Season One

ozark season 1

Created by Bill Dubuque ("The Accountant," "The Judge"), this drama series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. While the Byrde's fate hangs in the balance, the dire circumstances force the fractured family to reconnect.

In the first episode of Ozark, Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) is in a kind of existential midlife funk: His wife, Wendy (Laura Linney), is cheating on him; his kids are growing into entitled nightmares; and his job as a financial adviser appears to be lamentably unfulfilling. Then, suddenly, the show flips everything on its head. Marty’s business partner has apparently been stealing millions from a Mexican drug lord and is murdered in front of him. Marty’s only recourse is to plead for his life and propose a new plan—he’ll launder $500 million in drug money by moving to the Lake of the Ozarks, a man-made reservoir in Missouri and a popular holiday destination that he argues will be less conspicuous to the FBI.

Why Limp Bizkit's "Eat You Alive" Music Video Is The GOAT

People come and people go but when certain celebrities pass on it tends to sting just a bit. These are people that we invite into our homes and ask them to entertain us, be it for an hour, a month or years. So it's only natural that people tend to feel sadness when we lose one of those entertainers.

One of those recently lost entertainers was the great Bill Paxton. A man who starred in countless genre films and, up until his death, was having a monstrous run on television with Training Day.

Now, what does one have to do with the other? Well Bill, along with Thora Birch, starred in the music video for the "Eat You Alive" single. Bill plays the father of Thora's character and leads a manhunt through the woods to find his daughter who was abducted by Fred Durst. The kicker being that Thora falls for Durst and helps him escape her father and his mob.

The video itself plays as a cinematic experience thanks largely to Durst's direction. The cinematography is top notch, but the overall narrative flows in such a manor that you are fully aware of what is happening despite the fact that there is only one sentence spoken throughout the video. This feat sits largely on the shoulders of Paxton and Birch. The two are able to convey a complete story just by emoting over four minutes.

Eat You Alive is one of the rare videos that could have been turned into a feature and in some regards portions have been. Paxton draws heavily on his character of Dad Meiks from Frailty in the music video and the theme fits perfectly with the film All The Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Music videos use to be an artform that mashed music with a movie-like experience and, as proof below, attracted some high caliber talent. The talent of Bill Paxton and Thora Birch coupled with this song makes it the greatest music video of all time.

Netflix Series American Vandal Asks "Who Drew The Dicks?"

Capitalizing on the popularity of recent true crime series like Making a Murderer, Netflix has just unveiled a new true crime parody series entitled American Vandal, an 8-part mockumentary that “explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images.”

American Vandal follows Dylan Maxwell, a troubled high school senior (and known dick-drawer) who got expelled after he allegedly spray-painted graffiti penises on cars in the teacher’s parking lot. While Maxwell has a long and well-documented reputation for drawing crude cartoon dicks, an aspiring sophomore documentarian, Peter Maldanaldo, believes that Maxwell was too meat-headed to not have gotten caught red-handed. Maldanaldo suspects a cover-up to get the annoying vandal kicked out of school for good and explores whether Maxwell is truly innocent or merely playing the victim.

From co-creators Tony Yacenda (Pillow Talking) and Dan Perrault (Honest Trailers), and showrunner Dan Lagana (Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous), American Vandal is a half-hour true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Over the course of the eight-episode season, an aspiring sophomore documentarian investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled senior (and known dick-drawer) Dylan Maxwell. Not unlike its now iconic true-crime predecessors, the addictive American Vandal will leave one question on everyone's minds until the very end: Who drew the dicks?

Netflix Pick of the Week: Wet Hot American Summer 10 Years Later

wet hot 10 years

Summer is almost over, but camp is just getting started on Netflix.

In 2001, David Wain's satirical cult classic Wet Hot American Summer introduced us to the lewd, lovable oddballs of Camp Firewood, which in 2015 was spun off into eight-episode Netflix prequel First Day of Camp. Now, most of the original cast is back for a new sequel, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later.

It's been 10 years since the "Wet Hot American Summer" gang has left Camp Firewood and, living up to a promise from a decade earlier, the friends head back to the campgrounds for a reunion. They've gone in different directions since camp -- McKinley has a newborn baby while ragged-looking Gene is living out of his RV, for example -- but they come together for a common cause after receiving unsettling news. When distraught Beth announces that she's selling the camp, the newly re-formed group attempts to save their old stomping grounds. Joining the ensemble cast for this installment of the franchise are Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano and Adam Scott.

Joe Dante Will Bring Us Camp Cold Brook

Chad Michael Murray (House of Wax, TV's Sun Records) and Danielle Harris (Halloween, Hatchet III) will headline Andy Palmer's Camp Cold Brook.

Produced by Warner Davis of Petri Entertainment, Gremlins alum Joe Dante and Mark Alan of Renfield Productions, and Jason Van Eman and Ross Marroso of Weathervane Productions, pic tells of a reality TV crew that get more than they bargained for when they decide to film the next episode in the legendary Camp Cold Brook.

Reality TV producer and host, JACK WILSON (Chad Michael Murray), finds himself in a tough spot. His finances have crumbled and his show, “Haunt Squad”, is about to be cancelled. In a last ditch effort to spark ratings to land a final season, he and his producers Angela (Danielle Harris) and Emma as well as their trusted cameraman Kevin choose the legend of Camp Cold Brook to save their show. The camp was host to a horrific incident, where the young campers were drowned in a nearby creek 20 years ago.  Their arrival begins like any other episode. Cameras are placed, lights spark to life, but this is not going to be a regular episode of chasing errant noises and measuring for EVP. The terror here was real and the 30 are about to rise.

Courtney Gains (The Burbs, Children of the Corn), Michael Eric Reid (TV's Victorious),Candice De Visser (The Funhouse Massacre), Mary Kathryn Bryant (Hellraiser : Judgement), Loren Lodesma (A.S.K), and Jason Van Eman (1 Mile to You) help make up the ensemble.
