Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) has made a video announcement via Facebook that his long gestating film The Green Inferno will finally see release thanks to Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions. It's been over a year after it’s original intended release date of September 5, 2014 which was halted by Open Road Films in the wake of financial difficulties incurred by its production company, Worldview Entertainment. The film follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone and that no good deed goes unpunished.
Directed and co-written by Roth with Guillermo Amoedo, The Green Inferno stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara and Kirby Bliss Blanton. The film will hit theaters on September 25, 2015.
