The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has allocated a film tax credit for $2.11 million for the production of "Clerks III," which slated to shoot in Philadelphia. On March 9, the Greater Philadelphia Film Office issued a crew call for "Clerks III" indicating the production is expected to take five weeks and begin shooting in Philly in early June.
Smith is no stranger to shooting movies in Pittsburgh. He made the 1999 religious satire "Dogma" starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon here and returned to film the 2008 comedy, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," which starred Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen.
Kevin Smith made the first "Clerks" in 1994, which launched his career and helped gain greater attention for independent film makers.
