HAPPY! is based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel of the same name. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt).
Season two is set during the Easter holiday (following the first season's Christmas setting).
Season one ended with Nick tracking down Very Bad Santa at his hideout to find all the children he'd kidnapped – and lobotomised – over the years. Very Bad Santa is about to do it to Nick's daughter Hailey, but she escapes while Nick chases down Very Bad Santa and kills him.
After reuniting with his daughter, Nick suffers a heart attack, leading to rumours that he is actually dead. However, he has survived and is reunited with Happy after Happy said goodbye to Hailey.
The post-credits scene also saw crime boss Mr Blue visited by his nephew Mikey who breathes into Blue's ear before dying, meaning that "Orcus" who was possessing Mikey is now possessing Blue and is "hungry".
