The Houses October Built 2 [Review]

haunted house movie october

The Houses October Built was an original movie that blended real life haunt attractions with a fictional narrative about  an extreme haunt called The Blue Skeleton. The execution of the story was decent but the what could have been excellent fell apart in the final act due to a lackluster ending. Luckily this time around the gang gives us a complete movie that makes up for the shortcomings of the previous entry.

In The Houses October Built 2 we pick up with the group of haunt hunters at the end of the first movie giving us an epilogue as to how they are alive and with all the footage. Then we have a time jump, Zack (Zack Andrews) is tight on money and wants to cash in on their 15 minutes of internet fame by going to haunts across the country, again, and rating them as internet-celebrities. He gets the guys together with no problem but Brandy (Brandy Schaefer), who is the real draw thanks to her viral video branding her as Coffin Girl, has had enough of the haunted house scene to last her a lifetime. After some persuasion she agrees to return with the promise that they will only attend normal haunted houses.

The Houses October Built 2 is most definitely a retread of the first movie but that isn't a bad thing. This time around the movie feels more refined and the story comes across as complete; not poorly open-ended. The major plus with these movies, again, is their ability to capture the excitement that many find while visiting their favorite haunts during October and highlighting some of the more creative haunts around the country.

If the ending of the first movie bothered you then this will more than make up for it. But if you didn't like the first at all then I'd expect you wouldn't enjoy this one either.
